CHARLES D. ELLISON is Host of “The New School” on Sirius/XM Satellite Radio (Sirius 110, XM 130 and XM 169) and author of the critically-acclaimed urban political thriller TANTRUM. He is the Washington Correspondent for The Philadelphia Tribune and Washington Politics Correspondent for the popular online political news daily He is also a frequent contributor to The Huffington Post and POLITICO’s The Arena. He is viewed regularly as a panelist on’s “Washington Unplugged” and is a member of The Traynham Group frequently seen on Comcast TV’s “Roll Call TV w/ Robert Traynham.” He provides weekly political analysis on WDAS-FM in Philadelphia.

Charles is Director of the Center for New Politics and Policy, a former University of Denver Senior Fellow and former Visiting Fellow at the George Washington University Institute for Politics, Democracy and the Internet. In 2009, he was selected and honored as a portrait for world-renowned artist Lisa Jones’ “Heroes II Collection.” He was a featured panelist at the 10th Annual Black Writers Conference chaired by Nobel Prize Winner Toni Morrison.

With over a decade of applied political and policy experience, Charles is considered a leading expert in  politics, public policy, foreign policy, modern campaigns and elections and the use of technology in elections. Charles has contributed time as a lecturer for the Close-Up Foundation and was a member of the Youth Radio Editorial Board, providing advisement and issue guidance in the promotion of intellectual, creative and professional growth for young people through quality local and national media training.

He was Founder and CEO of the first ever online publication focused exclusively on African American political development. A former political correspondent at WEAA-FM in Baltimore and 2000 recipient of the Washington, D.C. “Top 40 Under 40″ Award, Mr. Ellison is a former Congressional staffer, speechwriter, and award-winning Internet content executive. He formerly directed public relations for Mt. Nebo Records, catapulting the roots reggae label from small, independent status to international rotation and recognition. He was a former associate producer for C-SPAN and former marketing and public relations director at Votenet Solutions, Inc.
