Tia Norfleet

What makes Tia’s story so fascinating is that she is the first and only African- American female professional racecar driver to be licensed by NASCAR. Norfleet anticipates winning both on and off the tracks. Besides competing as a NASCAR driver, Tia’s goal is to teach young people, especially females, that it can be done, and it is not solely limited to racing either. Tia’s testimony and vision is unusual yet intriguing. Tia Norfleet, the multi-talented, beautiful 24 year old, is a Native of Suffolk, VA and daughter of 20 year veteran NASCAR driver, Bobby Norfleet. Tia started racing, under her father’s tutelage, at the age of 9 and has a true passion for the sport. In addition to Tia’s “NO FEAR” mentality, pundits state that she has a voice like that of Whitney Houston, but prefers singing country. Tia Norfleet boasts an impressive winning record racing cars. From 1995- 2000, Tia started racing go karts, with 22 top ten finishes, 6 top 5 finishes and 2 wins. She then moved up to the Bandoleros Series from 2000-2003, accumulating 3 top 10 finishes and 2 top 5 finishes. In 2004, Tia began racing in late model series with 18 starts and 2 top 15 place finishes. In the drag racing circuit, she has amassed an impressive 52 starts with 37 wins.

Tia has tested under NASCAR crew chief, Carl Long and has a dedicated team led by her father Bobby Norfleet. Off the track, Tia and her father volunteer in a number of programs together, including entrepreneurship for at risk youth. She is committed to an array of programs, including, but not limited to, the National African American Drug Policy Coalition and the Motorsports Institute, Inc. Tia promotes her literacy program called Driven to Read through her comic book and up coming cartoon series “Lil Tia”. Tia Norfleet is the “Goodwill Ambassador for The International Museum of Twenty-first Century Arts, (TIMOTCA), and will be guest speaker at the VIP reception for the encore presentation of TIMOTCA’s Art Beyond Borders Exhibit at United Nations Headquarters, New York, February 2012 as well as the international spokesperson for W.O.M.A.N. You-R- Beautiful, a program of the Geanco Foundation . Tia hopes to spread the message that if one can think it, then one can achieve it.
